The National Social Security Institute and the Ombudsman are conducting a joint information campaign on the introduction of the euro

The Director of the National Social Security Institute (NSSI), Vessela Karaivanova-Nacheva, discussed with the Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva the implementation of a joint information campaign regarding the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria from January 1, 2026, which will be aimed at the elderly throughout the country. The initiative will include joint receptions and will cover mainly small settlements in the country.

The main goal is to inform and consult pensioners on all issues related to the upcoming change – from the conversion of pensions into the single European currency to how to protect themselves from possible fraud attempts.

“The National Social Security Institute will be an active partner in this campaign, because the topic of pensions is at the center of public attention. We want people to be calm and well informed about the way in which their incomes will be recalculated and guaranteed,” said the NSSI Director.

“It is important that all Bulgarian citizens, especially the elderly, receive clear, accessible and timely information on the introduction of the euro and how it will affect their incomes. This is not only an economic but also a social program that requires support and trust,” emphasized Velislava Delcheva.
